bullet10.3 Megapixel (3888 x 2592 Pixels) - Infrared + Visible  or IR-Only Conversion
bullet5X optical zoom lens
bulletFree-Angle 2.0" LCD monitor1
bulletAPS-class Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor
bulletRecords to both Memory Stickฎ and CompactFlashฎ media

Internally, we have modified the optics so that the camera can see from 330nm to 1200nm versus a stock camera which can see from about 380nm to 750nm.

The DSC-R1 uses 67mm filters.  We are in the processing of making them.  You can use a 67mm to 72mm stepping ring and use our 72mm filters if needed.

Important Note:The DSC-R1 has a problem with a center IR hotspot at F7 and smaller apertures.  The smaller the aperture, the more apparent the hotspot.  We can make the following recommendations
bulletShoot at F7 or wider
bulletFix in Photoshop using the Burn tool.  The Burn tool will darken the pixels with the hotspot very easily
bulletUse or XDP filter which has less of an issue with the IR hotspot

DSC-R1 with 715nm filter at F2.8                                     DSC-R1 with 715nm at F16

If you look closely at the building above, the picture on the right shows a lighter spot in the center of the image.  The lighter spot is an IR hotspot caused by the antireflection coatings which don't work well in the infrared.

Like our other IR enabled digital cameras, you should buy our CC1 color correcting filter (IR blocking filter) when using this camera for normal photography outdoors since our modified camera sees both infrared and visible light.

If you would like to supply us with your camera, we can modify your camera for a $500 fee + $20 return S&H (continental USA UPS Ground Insured).  Turn around is typically 1 or 2 days from receipt of camera.  For converting your camera, you should:

bulletPack camera well and ship insured
bulletInclude a fully charged battery for testing
bulletInclude a cover letter with return address and conversion type if applicable (IR-Only or IR+Visible)
bulletPayment information (Visa, MasterCard, Check, Money Order, Cash)
bulletSend to:
bulletLDP LLC
bullet220 Broad Street
bulletCarlstadt, NJ 07072  USA
bullet001-201-882-0344

We usually keep the converted IR+Visible DSC-R1 in stock available for immediate shipment.  We buy only factory new cameras in factory cartons.  We only open factor carton to modify camera.  All normal accessories are included.
